Washington Collects 4-1 Win
|
The Washington Senators bumped off the Phoenix Thunderbirds, 4-1, at The ESPN Zone. Alberto Guardiola hit 2 singles and 1 double. He also had 1 RBI. Keung King notched his 8th save of the season. With the win, Washington goes to 18-27, while the Thunderbirds fall to 20-24.
Bill Mahanay had a big 2-run double for the Senators in the bottom of the first inning. With Washington leading 1-0 and the bases loaded, he got a fastball from former first round draft pick Arturo Noboa and swatted a double to right-center. It was his 6th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Senators ahead, 3-0.
"The effort we put into this one paid off," Mahanay said.
