A nice crowd turned out for a clash between the Boston Greens and Havana Metropolitanos.
The Boston Greens knocked off the Havana Metropolitanos, 8-5, in Eastern Conference action at Estadio Latinoamericano. Boston pitcher and Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, native Ruben Guzman had an outstanding performance. In 7 innings, Guzman surrendered 4 hits, while striking out 8 and walking 2. He allowed 2 runs.
Willie Monjes, who finished 3rd in the WC in wins above replacement with 6.6 in 2070, helped out the Boston cause in the top of the sixth inning with a run-scoring walk. For the game, the shortstop went 1 for 2 with a double and 3 walks, while scoring 2 runs.
"We put a lot of pressure on ourselves," Monjes told a Boston News reporter. "Sometimes we just need to relax."
The loss makes Havana 25-20.
