Cyclones Clonk Juggernauts, 6-4
|
The Miami Cyclones downed the Toronto Juggernauts, 6-4, the largest share of the credit belonging to first baseman Karl Cooper. On the day, Cooper slugged 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice for the Cyclones. Sergej van Anrooij got the save, the 5th for him this season. Miami, at 19-24, holds down 4th place in the Eastern Conference Antonio Detorres Division.
Miami used a clutch at-bat from Paul Zimmers to capture the win. The shortstop hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the fifth inning to put the Cyclones ahead, 4-1. It was his lone hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
Cooper told the Miami Bulletin: "I'm the straw that stirs the drink."
