Wolves Lose, 4-1, at Cincinnati Grounds

The Cincinnati Twins downed the Vancouver Wolves, 4-1, at Cincinnati Grounds. Stellar pitching by Brian Burda had a lot to do with it. The right-hander, who is tied for 4th in the EC in wins with 5, handcuffed his opponent all game. Burda picked up the win for Cincinnati, going 6.2 innings. He gave up 1 run on 7 hits. He now sports a record of 5-3. Bobby Messer, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 1st save.
The Twins got a big at-bat from right fielder Jose Tineo. For the game, Tineo was 1-4 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the first, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 3-run home run. His 9th home run of the season gave Cincinnati a 3-0 lead.
"A great team win and something real positive we can build on," said Tineo after the game.
Cincinnati, at 19-24, occupies last place in the Eastern Conference Willis Briceno Division.
