Glaciers Drop Vikings, 5-3
|
Baseball fans saw a good contest between the Denver Glaciers and Minneapolis Vikings.
The Denver Glaciers locked up a win at Minneapolis Grounds, knocking off the Minneapolis Vikings, 5-3. On the mound for Denver was left-hander Tetsukazu Kaneda. He played a major role in the triumph. Kaneda, now 3-2, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 4, walking 2, and allowing 3 runs. The save went to Victor Garza, his 4th this season.
Denver took the lead, 5-3, on Hiroshi Kurokawa's 1st home run of the season. The solo home run came off Minneapolis pitcher Orlando Ortozco in the top of the ninth.
"We have a lot of confidence in Tetsukazu," said Denver manager Todd Bleess.
The Glaciers, at 28-16, sit in first place in the Western Conference Paul Richardson Division.
