Athletics Get Close Win Over Destroyers, 3-2
The Kansas City Athletics eked out a 3-2 win versus the San Diego Destroyers at Ballpark of Missouri. Nobody did more than pitcher Yasniel Ramirez. He was terrific. Andres Berrones, who finished 5th in the EC in saves with 32 last year, was the winner in relief. His record is now 2-1. The losing pitcher was Julio Olivo. The triumph makes Kansas City 15-28.

The decisive blow was delivered by Andy Wetsch in the bottom of the ninth when he hit a run-scoring double off 34-year old left-handed pitcher Julio Olivo to win the game for Kansas City. The home crowd went nuts.

Said Wetsch: "What's not to like about a walk-off win?"
