Toros Come Up Short at St. Louis, 5-4
The St. Louis Gaedels knocked off the Tucson Toros, 5-4, in Eastern Conference action at Veeck Park. St. Louis pitcher and Córdoba, Argentina, native Lanzo Huitron had an outstanding performance. Albert van Dongen picked up the save, his 3rd. The victory makes St. Louis 14-29.

The Gaedels got a big hit from designated hitter Zounes Kamuzu. Facing Tucson pitcher Miguel Moquete in the bottom of the seventh, Kamuzu pounded a solo home run to right. His 13th home run of the season put the Gaedels ahead, 5-0.

"Lanzo gets tougher when he has to, makes a big pitch when he has to," said St. Louis skipper Mak Dolnick.
