Cyclones Fall Short, 3-2, at Portland
|
The Portland Dragons stymied the Miami Cyclones, 3-2, at Portland Park. Xadreque Esperana had a good day at the plate. He was 2-2 with a home run and 2 walks, while scoring 2 and driving in 2 for Portland. Yahya Kanoro was the winner. He's now 4-3. The loser was two-time All-Star Roberto Davila. Oscar Mercado sewed up the save, his 3rd.
Portland catcher Hunter Begley contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the fifth. With two down, he hit a slider to left field for a run-scoring single. It was his 34th hit of the season and put the Dragons ahead, 3-2.
"This team is real focused right now," said Portland manager Greg Carpenter.
The winning continues for Portland, with the latest triumph making it 9 straight.
