Friars Collect 5-2 Win Versus Seattle
|
The Friars grabbed a win, 5-2, at Power Ballpark, overcoming a fine effort from Seattle pitcher Slider Brooks. Brooks went 6 innings and allowed no runs. Shaun Chugh picked up the win with 6 innings of work. He allowed 1 run on 6 hits, while walking 2 and striking out 3. On the season, he is now 2-1. Earning his 2nd save of the year was Mike Pechtel.
San Francisco used a timely hit from Felix Perez to get the win. The designated hitter delivered a bases-clearing triple in the top of the eighth inning to put the Friars on top, 5-1. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
Perez expressed little emotion after the game. "Every game we win now," he said, "is one less win we'll need to get in the end."
The Friars, at 25-16, lead by one game in their division.
