Phoenix starter Arturo Noboa put the San Diego offense in a vise grip. The left-hander relied heavily on his curveball in leading the Thunderbirds to a 3-0 win. Phoenix now sports a record of 84-67.

Billy Morf, who is tied for 10th in the WC in triples with 6, had a direct impact on the outcome. Morf contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the sixth inning to put Phoenix up, 2-0.

"We didn't score," said losing manager Steve Alstadt. "That was the problem."
