Starting pitcher Carlos Yturralde did his part in helping the St. Louis Gaedels thwart the Washington Senators, 4-1. Mike Gonzales got the save, the 1st for him this season. With the win, St. Louis upped its record to 80-72.

Chris Brankin had a big solo home run for the Gaedels in the bottom of the sixth inning. With St. Louis leading 1-0 and the bases empty, he sized up a fastball from 24-year old right-handed pitcher Rogelio Domínguez and punished it. The result was his 10th home run of the season, which put the Gaedels on top, 2-0.

"We played a good game and came out on top," said Yturralde.
