Senators Rebuff Gaedels, 4-2
|
The Washington Senators rode a solid performance from 24-year-old starting pitcher Toby Harrison to a win, beating the St. Louis Gaedels, 4-2, at Veeck Park. Julio Mendoza was credited with the save for Washington, his 30th of the season. The last-place Senators sport a record of 58-93.
Scott Flynn, who finished 4th in the WC in doubles with 48 in 2080, had a direct impact on the outcome. Flynn contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the sixth inning to put Washington up, 4-2.
Flynn called the win a testament to his team's "grit."
