Spectres Scratch Out 2-1 Win
|
The Philadelphia Spectres used a great performance from 27-year old right-handed pitcher Uno Urquidez to beat the Buffalo Rangers, 2-1, at Sony Field at Philadelphia. Urquidez picked up the win for Philadelphia, going 6 innings. He gave up 1 run on 4 hits. He now sports a record of 8-15. The save went to Alberto Zamora, his 32nd this season.
Earl Carpenter had a big run-scoring double for the Spectres in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Philadelphia leading 1-0 and a runner on 1st, he got a fastball from Jose Nereida, who finished 5th in the EC in wins with 15 in 2081, and swatted a double to center. It was his 24th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Spectres ahead, 2-0.
"Uno made the big pitches when he needed to," said Philadelphia manager Ryan Huff.
The Spectres raised their record to 67-84.
