The Havana Metropolitanos took on the Philadelphia Spectres at Estadio Latinoamericano.
The Havana Metropolitanos locked up a win at Estadio Latinoamericano, knocking off the Philadelphia Spectres, 5-3. On the mound for Havana was right-hander Mayor Pardo. He played a major role in the triumph. In 6.2 innings, Pardo surrendered 5 hits, while striking out 5 and walking 4. He allowed 3 runs. Victor Balaguer recorded his 37th save for Havana.
The Metropolitanos got a big at-bat from first baseman Xadreque Esperana. For the game, Esperana went 1 for 3 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the first, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 34th home run of the season gave Havana a 2-0 lead.
"It takes a lot of things to win a ballgame," said Havana manager Kevin Mayerhofer. "It's usually not just one thing."
The Metropolitanos are now 78-73, while the Spectres fall to 67-84.
