Behind the bravura of catcher Taiji Taira, the Denver Glaciers topped the Tucson Toros by the score of 7-4. Taira was 2 for 5 with 2 home runs, while adding 4 RBI and scoring twice for the Glaciers. Denver pitcher Victor Meierhold got the win, upping his record to 2-1. Ignacio Noriega got the loss. The losing skid has reached 8 games for Tucson.

The game was still up for grabs in the bottom of the ninth. With two out, Taira hit a fastball from Ignacio Noriega for a 3-run home run. The Glaciers, in dramatic fashion, had a walk-off win.

Afterward, Tucson manager Rick Barnes said: "Every team has a bad week."
