The Minneapolis Vikings and Tucson Toros provided some drama for the home crowd.

Alderaan Pike had an impact in the 9-8 Tucson win over Minneapolis. The two-time All-Star was 2 for 3 with a home run and 2 walks. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. Tucson reliever Miguel Moquete picked up the win to move to 12-4. Andy Rooksberry suffered the loss.

A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. In the top of the ninth, with the game tied, Graham Morgan was at the plate when Tucson scored 1 on an error. The miscue enabled the Toros to go in front, 9-8.

"When this team comes together and plays the way we can, we can compete with anyone," said Pike. "I think we're going to keep proving that."

The second-place Vikings dropped to 78-71.
