Thunderbirds Knock Off Kansas City, 4-0
|
At Ballpark of Missouri, the Kansas City Athletics and Phoenix Thunderbirds were greeted by an enthusiastic crowd.
Phoenix starter Arturo Noboa put the Kansas City offense in a vise grip. The left-hander relied heavily on his curveball in leading the Thunderbirds to a 4-0 win. Noboa picked up the win for Phoenix, going 7 innings. He gave up no runs on 7 hits. He now sports a record of 10-9.
Victor Moroxio, who finished 5th in the EC in stolen bases with 35 in 2076, had a direct impact on the outcome. Moroxio contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the sixth inning to put Phoenix up, 1-0.
"Arturo's a gamer," said Phoenix manager Joe Busch. "Glad he's on our side."
With the win, Phoenix goes to 74-75, while the Athletics fall to 55-94.
