Aquas Win 5th Straight, Take Down Wolves, 6-3
|
Houston parlayed a decent outing from starter Axel Mendiola into a solid win over the Vancouver Wolves. The final score was 6-3. Danny Mathews earned the win after being brought in from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on 2 hits in 1.1 innings. His record is now 3-3. Houston leads the Western Conference Felipe Solorzo Division by 12½ games.
The Aquas got a big at-bat from first baseman Frank Lung. For the game, Lung was 1 for 4 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the sixth, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 34th home run of the season gave Houston a 3-2 lead.
"I think it speaks for itself, I think we came out and we played our kind of baseball," said Lung.
