Win Streak Now at 7 for Twins
|
The Cincinnati Twins withstood an impressive performance by Boston first baseman Chris Gunderson to defeat the Greens, 9-6, at Arrington Park. Gunderson was 2-4 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. The win went to Cortez Ortega in relief, making him now 1-1. Dave Gaytan took the loss for Boston. Dainer Madera wrapped it up, recording his 6th save.
Cincinnati used a clutch at-bat from Tim Champion to capture the win. The center fielder hammered a grand slam home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Twins ahead, 9-5. It was his lone hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
"The vibe's good," said Cincinnati manager Ryan Stoops. "We've got to keep it going."
Cincinnati sits in third place in the Eastern Conference Willis Briceno Division at 74-73.
