The Kansas City Athletics stopped the Minneapolis Vikings by a score of 8-3 at Ballpark of Missouri, with the lion's share of the credit going to second baseman Eddie Simon. The 29-year-old had a career day, collecting 5 hits.

"Every batter wants to have a quality at-bat every time he steps up to the plate," Simon said later. "He wants to hit the ball hard."

Simon did just that in his 5 at-bats, much to the chagrin of the Vikings.

"Not much that I can say," offered Minneapolis manager Ace Cooan. "He just hammered the heck out of us."

Eddie Simon hit a solo-shot off Fidel Flores in the 1st, hit a three-run home run off Fidel Flores in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, singled in the 6th and doubled in the 8th.
