Twins Capture Close Win
|
The Cincinnati Twins beat the Washington Senators, 5-4, at Cincinnati Grounds. James Gilmore starred for Cincinnati. He belted 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. Cruz Vaquez picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 3-2. Julio Mendoza, who was drafted in the 3rd round of the 2074 draft, was tagged with the loss. The third-place Twins now have a win-loss record of 66-80.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the ninth inning, when Cincinnati second baseman Marco Escutia, facing Xiong Loh, had a run-scoring walk. It gave the Twins the 5-4 win.
Escutia said his team "played with a purpose."
