Nosediving Stars Lose, 12-3
|
Getting a good performance from third baseman Min-yul Lee, the Phoenix Thunderbirds defeated the Los Angeles Stars, 12-3. Lee went 2 for 5 with a home run, while scoring 2 and driving in 4 for the Thunderbirds. Jay Barrientos was the winner. He's now 3-4. The loser was Corey LaCognata. Phoenix has won 4 consecutive games.
With Phoenix leading 4-0 in the bottom of the second, Lee came up to bat against Los Angeles pitcher Corey LaCognata. Lee hit a curveball to right for a grand slam home run. His 25th home run of the season put the Thunderbirds on top, 8-0.
"We hit the ball on the barrel," said Phoenix manager Joe Busch.
