The Phoenix Thunderbirds had no problem beating the Tucson Toros, 11-2, at Legednary Park. Sem Vreke led the way. He was 3 for 3 with a double and 2 singles, while scoring 2 times for Phoenix. John Intriago picked up the win in relief for Phoenix, while Vismay Falcon took the loss. Phoenix's winning streak has reached 4 games.

The Thunderbirds got a big hit from designated hitter Joaquin Yanqui. Facing Tucson pitcher Charles Newton in the bottom of the seventh, Yanqui pounded a grand slam home run to right. His 16th home run of the season put the Thunderbirds ahead, 11-2.

"You can't sugarcoat this one," said Tucson manager Rick Barnes. "We got flat-out beat."
