Kodiaks Earn Late 3-2 Win
|
The Alaska Kodiaks had to overcome a good performance from Denver pitcher Taxi Sabala to claim a 3-2 win at Mountain Dew Park. Sabala went 6.2 innings and allowed 1 run. Jeff Amendola earned the win after being brought in from the bullpen. The left-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 1.1 innings. His record is now 2-0. The first-place Kodiaks go to 84-63.
Dave Yerges came through with a big-time hit for Alaska. The left fielder smacked a 2-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to give his team the lead, 3-2. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.
"There are no moral victories," said losing manager Todd Bleess.
