Chicago parlayed a decent outing from starter Juzo Matsumoto into a solid win over the Havana Metropolitanos. The final score was 6-4. Matsumoto picked up the win for Chicago, going 5.1 innings. He gave up 3 runs on 4 hits. He now sports a record of 5-8. The second-place Phantoms lifted their record to 79-67.
Chicago used a clutch at-bat from Dave Yerges to capture the win. The right fielder hammered a grand slam home run in the top of the third inning to put the Phantoms ahead, 4-1. It was his lone hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
