Gaedels Rally to Eke Out Win
Cincinnati third baseman Walter Gravel was sensational. He slugged 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice. But it wasn't enough to rally his team to a win. St. Louis beat the Twins, 11-10. Dave Valenzuela converted his 4th save in 5 tries. The Gaedels win now puts them at 75-69.

St. Louis needed the clutch hitting of Chris Brankin to seal the deal. The designated hitter swatted a solo home run in the top of the tenth inning to put the Gaedels on top, 11-10. For the game, Brankin had 1 home run and 3 singles in 6 at-bats.

Brankin told a St. Louis Bulletin reporter that he felt "ecstatic" after the win.
