Toros Pull Out Late-Game Win, 4-3
|
Martyn Gheldere was a vital contributor to the 4-3 Tucson victory over Phoenix. The Toros third baseman was 3 for 4 with a home run and a double, while scoring 3 runs. Edwin Castaneda, who is tied for 7th in the WC in saves with 14, picked up the win in relief. Nick Crook took the loss for Phoenix. The 4th-place Toros hiked their record to 61-83.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the ninth inning, when Tucson left fielder Etsuji Obata, facing Nick Crook, had a run-scoring sacrifice fly. It gave the Toros the 4-3 win.
"I just try to be a dog, have good swings, good at-bats," said Gheldere.
