Glaciers Handed 5-2 Loss by San Diego
|
San Diego pitcher R.J. Mendenhall did his part in helping his team defeat the Denver Glaciers, 5-2. The opposition could never get too much going against the right-hander. John Huberty, 5-3, earned the win in relief. He allowed no runs on no hits in 2 innings. Julio Olivo, credited with the save, is now 16 for 19 in save opportunities.
Had Jose Gonzales not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, Gonzales hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the Destroyers.
"When R.J. is on, he can really move the ball around," said San Diego manager Steve Alstadt.
The losing streak for Denver has now reached 4 games.
