The Alaska Kodiaks topped the Tucson Toros, 5-2, in Western Conference action at Aetna Stadium. The standout performance belonged to Alaska pitcher and Winston-Salem, North Carolina, native Alex Mayorga. Mayorga, now 13-9, was the winner. In 5 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 1, walking 3, and allowing 2 runs. With the win, the Kodiaks improved to 81-62.

Alaska used a well-timed hit by Jose Lima to capture the win. The center fielder socked a 2-run double in the top of the second inning to put the Kodiaks ahead, 2-1. Though it was his only hit in 5 at-bats, it was important.

"We'll take some time to unwind," said Lima, "and then get after it again."
