Friars Win 4th Straight, Take Down Wolves, 3-2
|
The San Francisco Friars picked up a win at Staples Field, courtesy of Kelvin Vaquera. The right-hander helped his team stop the Vancouver Wolves, 3-2. Vaquera, now 14-9, was the winner. In 8 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 6, walking 2, and allowing 2 runs. Cruz Ponce earned save number 8 this season.
The Friars got a big at-bat from first baseman Felix Perez. For the game, Perez went 1 for 4 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the fourth, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 35th home run of the season gave San Francisco a 2-0 lead.
"Coming in, from the get-go, I knew my stuff was good," said Vaquera.
San Francisco has run its win streak to 4 straight.
