The inspired effort of Denver first baseman Migdônio Ervilhosa was not enough to prevent a loss, 5-4, to the Los Angeles Stars. Ervilhosa went 2-4 with 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. Miguel Torrez finished to wrap up his 36th save. The Stars now have a record of 95-45 with the win over Denver.

The Stars got a big hit from first baseman Lyndon Lance. In the bottom of the seventh, Lance smacked a 2-run double off Denver pitcher Roberto Renteria. It was his 29th double of the season. Suddenly, the Stars were ahead, 5-4.

"There were things that we could've improved upon," said Stars manager Pat Kaers, "but all in all, I'm satisfied with our performance."
