Thunderbirds Score Late, Upend Aces, 6-4
|
Baseball fans saw a good contest between the Phoenix Thunderbirds and Las Vegas Aces.
Adir Barrabi did all he could to help his team win. In the end, though, it wasn't enough to keep the Las Vegas Aces from being beaten, 6-4, to the Phoenix Thunderbirds at Western Coliseum. Barrabi went 3-3 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Andy Miao locked down his 6th save.
Phoenix won the game in part because of Emilio Oregon. The designated hitter ripped a 3-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Thunderbirds ahead, 5-4. For the game, Oregon had 1 double and 1 home run in 4 at-bats.
"We put a lot of pressure on ourselves," Oregon told a Phoenix Bulletin reporter. "Sometimes we just need to relax."
The Thunderbirds go to 15-23, putting them last in the Western Conference Mike Stump Division.
