Athletics Trip Vikings, 10-9, in Extra Innings
|
In a high-scoring contest between Kansas City and Minneapolis, right fielder Hisatoshi Morita was a difference-maker. Morita, who finished 3rd in the WC in doubles with 46 last year, distinguished himself in the 10-9 Kansas City win. He went 5 for 7 with a triple, a double, 3 singles, and a walk. He scored 4 runs. Gavin Jorjadze, credited with the win in relief, is now 2-4. He allowed 1 run on 1 hit in 1 innings. The Vikings, now 73-68, have lost 4 straight.
The decisive blow was delivered by Chris Horn in the bottom of the 14th when he hit a run-scoring double off former first round draft pick Brian Burda to win the game for Kansas City. The home crowd went nuts.
"I'm trying to keep it simple," said Horn. "Just do my job."
