Despite the exploits of right fielder Takeshi Esaki, the Washington Senators were beaten by the Cincinnati Twins, 3-2, in 15 innings. Esaki was 5 for 6 with 2 doubles, 3 singles, and a walk. Walter ten Hoeve earned the win after being brought in from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2 innings. His record is now 2-0. The Twins improved their record to 67-73 by beating Washington.

The Twins got a clutch hit from second baseman Marco Escutia. In the bottom of the 15th, he delivered a run-scoring single to win the game for the Twins.
