Win Lifts Titans to 96-43
|
Washington got a decent performance from pitcher Axel Maisonneuve, but it wasn't enough to beat the New York Titans. New York won the The ESPN Zone contest, 5-2. Maisonneuve threw 6.0 innings of 4-hit ball for the losing team. Reliever Matt Pontius picked up the win. His record improves to 3-4. Axel Maisonneuve, who is tied for 7th in the EC in complete games with 1, took the loss. The current losing streak for Washington has reached 4 games.
New York used the timely hitting of Matt Lewis to seize the win. The shortstop stroked a 2-run single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Titans on top, 3-0. It was his only hit in 2 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"Do what you're good at," said New York manager Nate Beckman. "That's all I ask of the team."
