Guilzar Slugs 2 Home Runs, Dragons Beat Vikings, 4-3
|
Due in large part to designated hitter Alex Guilzar, the Portland Dragons sunk the Minneapolis Vikings, 4-3. Guilzar hit 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. Portland starter Ryan Mena was credited with the win after throwing 98 pitches over 6.1 innings. His record now stands at 3-8. Portland sits in last place in the Western Conference Eric Wise Division at 65-74.
Portland took a 4-1 lead on Guilzar's 41st home run of the season. The 2-run home run, which he hit off Hugo Mesinas in the top of the seventh, propelled Portland to the win.
In postgame remarks, Guilzar applauded his team's "resolve."
