Washington Ruins Terrific Game by Tejeda
|
Washington left fielder Alex Tejeda had a good game, even if his team did not. The Senators dropped a 6-4 decision to New York at The ESPN Zone. Tejeda hit 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice. Pete Obradovic earned the win after being brought in from the bullpen. The left-hander allowed no runs on 2 hits in 1.2 innings. His record is now 1-1. New York, now 90-48, holds down first place in the Eastern Conference Willis Briceno Division.
Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Jimmy Keener? The 2076 Rookie of the Year Award winner Keener stroked a 2-run single in the top of the ninth inning to put New York up, 6-4. For the game, he was 2 for 5, including 1 double and 1 single.
"This was a nice win for us," said Keener. "It's one more step toward our ultimate goal."
