Twins Lose at Home, 5-1
The St. Louis Gaedels downed the Cincinnati Twins, 5-1, at Cincinnati Grounds. Stellar pitching by Jose Alirez had a lot to do with it. The right-hander, who is tied for 10th in the EC in quality starts with 15, handcuffed his opponent all game. St. Louis is second in the Eastern Conference Rex Rawnsley Division with a record of 64-74.

St. Louis used a well-timed hit by Evelio Vinent to capture the win. The third baseman socked a 2-run double in the top of the fifth inning to put the Gaedels ahead, 3-0. Though it was his only hit in 5 at-bats, it was important.

"That's how you're going to be successful," said Gaedels manager Mak Dolnick. "It starts with pitching and it will always be pitching."
