Toros Deal Thunderbirds 5-1 Defeat

2083 is shaping up to be a forgettable year for the Phoenix Thunderbirds.
The Tucson Toros got a strong performance from pitcher Feng Shuai, who stymied the Phoenix offense en route to a win, 5-1, at Legednary Park. Shuai, the winner, moves to 5-9. He threw 6.1 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 6 and giving up 1 walk. Shunsen Maekawa converted his 2nd save in 4 tries.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for R.J. Dougherty? The Tucson second baseman had a run-scoring double in the top of the second inning to put the Toros on top, 2-0. For the game, Dougherty had 2 doubles and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"When Feng is on, he can really move the ball around," said Tucson manager Rick Barnes.
Tucson is now 59-79.
