Friars Collect 8-5 Win Over Juggernauts
|
The San Francisco Friars beat the Toronto Juggernauts, 8-5, in 10 innings. San Francisco third baseman Amdre Ceclio, in particular, had a fine performance. He was 3 for 5 with 2 home runs, while adding 4 RBI and scoring twice. Roger Calzada snagged the win in relief. The right-hander allowed 1 run on 1 hit over 1.1 innings. He's now 2-4 on the season. The save was credited to Cruz Ponce, his 7th.
San Francisco needed the clutch hitting of Chris Neri to seal the deal. The left fielder swatted a solo home run in the top of the tenth inning to put the Friars on top, 6-5. For the game, Neri had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
"We were able to get some things going offensively," said Ceclio.
With this game in the books, San Francisco is 69-69, Toronto 68-70.
