The San Diego Destroyers did just enough to sneak past the Minneapolis Vikings, 6-5, at Seaward Stadium. San Diego pitcher Bob Castillo, in particular, had a standout performance. The Destroyers go to 59-79, putting them last in the Western Conference John Sexton Division.

A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth, an error by the Vikings allowed the Destroyers to score the winning run.

"Bob was pounding the zone," said San Diego manager Steve Alstadt.
