Gravel, Twins March to 9-4 Victory
|
Twins third baseman Walter Gravel left his imprint on his team's 9-4 win over the Toronto Juggernauts. Gravel was 3-4 with 2 home runs and a double, while scoring 3 and driving in 3 for Cincinnati in the contest. Bokkai Nikaido got the win, improving to 2-0. He pitched 6 innings, giving up 6 hits and 4 runs, while striking out 8 and walking 2. Juan Quesada picked up the save, his 1st.
Nick Phipps had a big 2-run double for the Twins in the bottom of the third inning. With Cincinnati leading 5-4 and runners on 1st and 3rd, he got a fastball from Fisko Loera, who finished 2nd in the EC in innings pitched with 227.0 in 2079, and swatted a double to left. It was his 1st double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Twins ahead, 7-4.
"You need to show up when your number's called," said Phipps.
Cincinnati is now 20-20.
