Cesar Lobatos, who is tied for 9th in the EC with a 3.25 ERA, pitched well, but the Havana Metropolitanos still fell short, losing, 4-2, to the Buffalo Rangers at Estadio Latinoamericano. Buffalo pitcher Melvin Luna got the win, upping his record to 4-0. Cesar Lobatos got the loss. The Rangers bumped their record to 70-66 with this latest triumph.
A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. In the top of the eighth, with the game tied, Matty Hrinko was at the plate when Buffalo scored 1 on an error. The miscue enabled the Rangers to go in front, 3-2.
"It was a solid team effort," Hrinko said. "That's usually what it takes to win."
