Los Angeles first baseman Lyndon Lance had a good game in a losing cause. His team fell, 5-4, to Minneapolis at Stars Ballpark. Lance slugged 3 home runs. Minneapolis reliever Johnny Wickwire picked up the win, upping his record to 4-3. Miguel Torrez shouldered the loss. The save went to Wendell Gray, his 1st this season.

This game was not decided until Midori Morikawa came to bat in the top of the tenth. With runners on 1st and 3rd and no one out, the Minneapolis second baseman hit a sacrifice fly. The Vikings took the lead, 5-4.

"It's always nice to be on the winning side," Morikawa told the Minneapolis Daily News. "But we take nothing for granted."

Minneapolis, at 62-74, sits in 4th place in the Western Conference Eobanus Burger Division.
