Athletics Trip Stars, 8-7, in Extra Innings
The Kansas City Athletics wiggled past the Los Angeles Stars, 8-7, at Ballpark of Missouri. The win was highlighted by the performance of Kansas City center fielder Justin Vaughn. Kansas City reliever Yobal Ulacia was the winner. His record is now 8-12. Ken Lambros took the loss. The victory makes Kansas City 44-90.

The Athletics relied on catcher Mike Matoska for the game-winning hit. And, in the bottom of the 13th, he delivered, hitting a run-scoring single to seal the deal.

"It's great to get the crowd pumped up," Matoska said.
