Titans Pick Up 5-4 Win
|
Good production from center fielder Melvin Gutierrez helped the New York Titans topple the Philadelphia Spectres, 5-4. Gutierrez went 4-4 with a double and 3 singles, while adding 3 RBI for the Titans. Al Garay, the winner, improved to 3-2. He held Philadelphia to 3 runs on 5 hits over 7.2 innings, while racking up 7 strikeouts. Picking up the save was Danny Quijano, his 1st.
Gutierrez had a timely hit for New York in the bottom of the sixth. With Philadelphia trailing 2-1, he turned a first pitch sinker into a bases-clearing double. It was his 3rd double of the season, making it 4-2, New York.
"We've got a great group of guys," Gutierrez said, "and we're having fun right now."
The Titans sit in first place in the Eastern Conference Willis Briceno Division with a record of 26-13.
