Thunderbirds Earn Late Win
|
San Francisco right fielder Leonilde Tigre had a terrific game, but it still wasn't enough to get his team a win. Tigre hit 2 home runs, while adding 4 RBI and scoring twice, even as Phoenix beat the Friars, 10-9. The Thunderbirds move to 63-70 with the win, while the Friars drop to 83-50.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the ninth inning, when Phoenix third baseman Matt Lacher, facing Mike Pechtel, had a run-scoring walk. It gave the Thunderbirds the 10-9 win.
"It's great when the crowd is energized," Lacher said.
