Phantoms Earn Late Win
The Chicago Phantoms did just enough to secure a victory over the San Francisco Friars, 4-3, in 13 innings at Foster Field. Nobody did more than pitcher Tetsukazu Kaneda. Reliever Ricardo Riveron picked up the win. His record improves to 2-1. Victor Barbosa took the loss. The win lifted the Chicago record to 70-62.

The decisive blow was delivered by Luis Valera in the bottom of the 13th when he hit a solo home run off 24-year old right-handed pitcher Victor Barbosa to win the game for Chicago. The home crowd went nuts.

"This place went bonkers at the end," Kaneda said.
