Minneapolis pitcher Josh Hawes had a large part in his team subduing the St. Louis Gaedels, 4-2. The opposition could never mount much of a rally against the right-hander. The save went to Zee-loo Kim, his 29th this season. With the win, Minneapolis raised its record to 78-52.

Eric Newland had a big run-scoring double for the Vikings in the bottom of the second inning. With Minneapolis leading 1-0 and a runner on 1st, he got a fastball from 25-year old left-handed pitcher Ben Ford and swatted a double to right-center. It was his 7th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Vikings ahead, 2-0.

"I was trying to do what I do, go out there and compete," said Hawes.
