Phantoms Win, 7-3, Versus Twins
|
The Chicago Phantoms defeated the Cincinnati Twins, 7-3, in Western Conference action at Foster Field. Chicago pitcher Tommy Pepper had a standout performance. The winner was Pepper. He threw 8.0 innings of 5-hit ball. The loser was Abdi Bitok. Chicago is now 69-59, while Cincinnati is 60-68.
Ian Sabre had a big bases-clearing double for the Phantoms in the bottom of the sixth inning. With Chicago leading 4-3 and the bases loaded, he got a curveball from 24-year old left-handed pitcher Antonio Ramires and swatted a double to left-center. It was his 15th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Phantoms ahead, 7-3.
Said Chicago manager Sam J: "We squared some balls up."
