The San Francisco Friars took Portland pitcher Yandri Vido's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Staples Field. The final score had San Francisco getting past the Dragons, 3-2. Vido went 5 innings and allowed 2 runs, striking out 5. The Friars go to 68-62, putting them third in the Western Conference Felipe Solorzo Division.

The Friars got a big hit from first baseman Jason Gonzalez. In the bottom of the sixth, Gonzalez smacked a 2-run home run off Portland pitcher Takuma Takahashi. It was his 12th home run of the season. Suddenly, the Friars were ahead, 3-2.

"There are no moral victories," said losing manager Greg Carpenter.
