Chicago Earns 5-4 Win
|
The Chicago Phantoms withstood an impressive performance by Portland first baseman Jairo Cedillo to defeat the Dragons, 5-4, at Foster Field. Cedillo was 2-4 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 and driving in 2. The winner in relief was Teh-huai Yap. The left-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 2 innings. He now owns a record of 5-2. Chicago goes to 69-59, Portland to 68-60.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the ninth inning, when Chicago shortstop Ron Jollymour, facing Taisei Yamamoto, had a run-scoring sacrifice fly. It gave the Phantoms the 5-4 win.
"I'm proud to be a part of what we've got going on here," Jollymour told the Chicago Daily News. "It's a great group and we're happy with the win."
