|
The inspired effort of Washington left fielder Elisa Martinez was not enough to prevent a loss, 5-3, to the Los Angeles Stars. Martinez was 3 for 3 with a home run and a double. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Pete Obradovic, the winning pitcher, is now 8-4. He went 7.1 innings, allowing 3 runs on 7 hits, while fanning 7 and walking 1. Miguel Torrez earned the save, his 34th.
With no one out in the bottom of the fourth, Manny Sagastisado barreled up a fastball from Alberto Zamora. The result was a 2-run home run, putting the Stars in front, 3-0.
"I still think this team can play even better," Sagastisado told the Los Angeles Times.
Los Angeles now has a 5-game win streak.
