In a low-scoring contest between the Buffalo Rangers and the Boston Greens, Mike Blain, who is tied for 8th in the EC with a 3.30 ERA, proved to be the difference. The Buffalo right-hander earned props for his performance in the 3-1 Rangers win. Blain, the winner, moves to 8-7. He threw 6.1 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 5 and giving up 2 walks. The save went to Ricardo Alas, his 4th this season.

Vance Kitchen, who finished 2nd in the WC in doubles with 47 in 2072, had a direct impact on the outcome. Kitchen contributed a run-scoring walk in the top of the sixth inning to put Buffalo up, 2-1.

"It was a tough night at the plate," said Boston manager Matt Glazer.

Buffalo is now 68-57, while Boston is 67-58.
